This is the text from the Peace and Justice Memorial in Montgomery, Alabama - a peaceful, sacred space dedicated to the thousands who died as a result of the horrendous racism that plagued the southern states from reconstruction and on into the 1960’s - and that still exists in many forms today.
In April 2023, we traveled to Birmingham and Montgomery, Alabama to visit and consider several sites of so much tragic history. We had time for conversation each day to think together about this experience. We were challenged, inspired, and deeply moved.
